The Nelson Family had a wonderful Christmas. Grama and Granpa Trotter, Grama and Granpa Nelson, Aunt Michelle and Uncle Shane, Uncle Tony, Cousin's Kolbi and Kolter all came to visit us for the weekend. It was wonderful having all the family here to celebrate Cache's first Christmas. Big Sister and Brother enjoyed having the cousin's around to hang with.
Cache (almost 8 months) had such a blast all day, and didn't sleep a wink. So, by 8:30 that night he was crashed out in Daddy's arms. He got so many cool toys, a rocking horse (made by Grandpa Trotter), an airplane and even a rocking tractor from cousin McCoy.
We are so blessed to have all the family so close to us to celebrate the Holidays. We hope you have a wonderful 2010! Love, The Nelson's

Santa is coming!
No suprise, Cache is more excited about the lights on the Christmas tree than he is about presents this year. Mom's advice to everyone is to save your money for years to come... Cache's favorite toys are strings, Dad's beard and Brother's hockey puck right now.
So, any advice on how to keep Mom from picking him up at night and giving him a bottle so he will start sleeping through the night?! Nobody told me that he should be sleeping 12 hours at a time by 6 months! So, now I have to break myself from getting up and making him a bottle and rocking him back to sleep. Probably better get the rocking chair out of his bedroom don't you think? Oh, man I don't know if this will be harder on him or me!
Have a great Chrismas and a beautiful 2010! Watch our blog for more postings over the New Year! Love you all! Kimberly, John, Shayle, Colton and Cache

Cache and the Christmas Tree
Cache loves to play with the Christmas decorations. Especially after having a bath and laying around with no clothes! As you can see, it puts a smile on his beautiful little face. Merry Christmas!
Bath time for the big boy.
Cache (7 months now) loves bath time every night. He sits in the 'tub' and plays with all the ducks Aunt Shonda and Uncle Mike gave him last Christmas. He loves to splash around and soak the kitchen.

Our Little Hunter - Shayles First Elk
Shayle (16-Junior in High-School) got her first Bull Elk! She and Dad have been hunting on their days off for the past three weekends, and getting down to the final days. With a special permit for a bull, and after seeing literally hundreds of elk, including nearly 80 bulls, they finally got close enough to take a shot at one. While stalking through the timber to try for a bull they had seen earlier out on an open ridge, they ran into three more bulls laying in the trees. At 200 yards, and the bull in bed, Shayle shot a beautiful 4x4 bull elk with her Dad's .338 Winchester. She made a perfect heart shot, and killed it instantly! Dad got it on video, but was just as excited as Shayle, so some of the film is a bit wild. Congratulations Shayle on your first bull elk! What an awesome Father-Daughter experience that was...

Merry Christmas, Happy Birthday Johnny!!!
Johnny got a new 3/4 ton heavy duty Chevy yesterday. These pictures were taken early this morning before John and Shayle went out hunting for her elk, so they are a little dark. Our old Chevy had a lot of miles on it and it was time to trade it in for a little more of a family friendly truck. So, now we have 4 doors and a full back seat for the kids to travel in.... let's see... where to go first?
John and Shayle are out hunting for a big bull elk again today. They have seen several big bulls and we hope she lands a nice big one. We promise to post pictures if she gets one!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Cache is 6-1/2 Months now!
He is sitting up by himself, making lots of happy noises, and is very interactive with all of us. He lights up when Shayle or Colton walk in the room and starts squeeling happy sounds. We can't believe how fast he is growing and how independent he is becoming already. Man they grow fast.

Cache's First Halloween
Cache dressed up as a little monkey (cause Mom is a little crazy about monkey's). And Sister went crazy with the camera. He didn't go out trick or treating yet as he has a big brother who loves to play tricks and a sister who loves to give him treats!
Cache is 6 months on November 6 already! Man how time flies. He is getting so big and handsome, looking like a little man already. His eyes are so dark brown and he has the wonderful mexican features.

He is still going to work with Mom where everyone enjoys hearing his giggle and coos. He has found his voice and lets everyone know it. Dad and Cache have spent many hours in the kitchen cutting up Dad's two elk and grinding all the hamburger. Mom had to go away for a week to West Virginia where she got to see some special friends and enjoy a week worth of intense training in Lands. Shayle, Colton and Cache enjoyed the week with Dad!

Five Months and Growing Fast
Cache is starting to really develop a little personality. He loves to giggle especially at his big Sister and Brother. He enjoyed a nice visit from Grandpa Jim Armstrong and Aunt Koren (Armstrong). She came all the way from Indiana to visit us. It was a wonderful weekend. We are enjoying football games in the Fall in Idaho and getting ready for Halloween.

Cache is growing fast!
Fall has been wonderful around here... The nights are getting cool and it is nice and warm during the day. Colton is in to football full swing, Shayle is busy with school and trying to find a job, and Cache is gowing like a little weed.
Cache is laughing (especially at his silly Dad) and trying to sit up by himself. We just ordered him a walker so he can start zipping around the house on his own. He loves to hang in his swing and his vibrating chair. He sure has found his voice. Our little guy is growing so fast.

John's Alaska Hunting trip 2009
John, and Rohn (his twin brother) just returned from another hunting adventure in Alaska. They flew into the Brooks Range for dall sheep on August 21, and returned September 7, 2009. They each got a beautiful ram again this year... This is their sixth consecutive "double" on dall rams. It snowed every day they were there, but when you are 250 miles north of the Arctic Circle, that can be expected most any time of the year.
